Electrical apprenticeship training opportunities expanding locally
Canadore College is receiving over $385,000 from the province to expand apprenticeship training for electrical apprenticeship students.
Vic Fedeli, MPP for Nipissing, announced the money will help equip more people in Nipissing with the tools and resources they need to land good paying, in-demand careers in the skilled trades.
“Ontario’s skilled trades are vital to our economy and offer meaningful and well-paying careers,” said MPP Vic Fedeli. “As part of our government’s ongoing work to modernize and expand apprenticeship training, this investment will ensure electrical apprentices studying at Canadore College can learn on the same industry standard tools and technologies being used on job sites today.”

This funding is part of the government’s annual investment for the Apprenticeship Capital Grant program.
“This investment will enable us to provide leading-edge learning opportunities, particularly for our electrical apprenticeship students, by equipping them with modern tools and expanding training in renewable energy,” says Dr. Sandra Efu, President and CEO of Canadore College. “These upgrades ensure our programs align with evolving industry standards and support the growing demand within the green energy sector.”
The province says one in six jobs in Ontario is expected to be in the skilled trades by 2034, underscoring the need to continue growing apprenticeship pathways and training capacity.
