Get Ready North Bay
Kindness Week returns May 25–29 with community events, inspiring stories and simple ways for everyone to “Do good. Feel good.”
The third annual Kindness Week is set to bring thousands of acts of kindness to communities across North Bay and District from May 25–29, encouraging residents of all ages to spread positivity through simple everyday actions.

The Kindness Project is built on the idea that small acts can make a big difference. Research shows that kindness is linked to stronger mental health, with 89 per cent of people who share kindness and 90 per cent of people who receive kindness reporting that it improved their mental health.
“The beautiful thing about kindness is that we are all capable of making someone’s day with simple gestures,” said Mary Davis, CEO of the Canadian Mental Health Association, North Bay and District. “Our goal over the past three years has been to share and inspire kind acts throughout the community, and I think what we’ve achieved is nothing short of incredible.”
“During Mental Health Week, we reminded the community that connection is essential to mental health,” Davis added. “Kindness, too, is a powerful tool for reducing stress, anxiety and loneliness. Being kind makes you happier, the person receiving kindness is happier, and even the person witnessing kindness feels happier. It’s amazing.”

What to expect during Kindness Week 2026
Monday, May 25: A kick-off at 10 a.m. with a flag-raising and proclamation at City Hall, followed by kindness crews spreading smiles (and cupcakes) across the city.
Tuesday–Friday: Appreciation activities for military personnel, hospital workers and first responders.
All Week: Students from M.T. Davidson and Woodlands schools will lead the charge with kindness activities, assemblies and gestures that ripple into their neighbourhoods.
Friday, May 26: From noon to 1:30 p.m., everyone is invited to a free outdoor lunch at the Main and Fraser parkette. In case of rain, the event moves inside to CMHA North Bay and District’s Peer Connections centre, 194 Main St. W. Come hungry, build connection and celebrate downtown, the heart of our community.
Bonus: Highlights from the week will be shared in a special Kindness Cast, airing on YourTV North Bay Cogeco and YouTube.
Be sure to keep an eye out for Captain Kindness, who will be popping up throughout the week and reminding us that kindness is a superpower.
