MP Rochefort to present Military Honours Review petition
A federal petition calling for the government to establish an Independent Military Honours Review Board, and consider awarding the Canadian Victoria Cross, is coming to the floor of the House of Commons.
Nipissing-Timiskaming MP Pauline Rochefort (Liberal) is presenting the petition on Wednesday.
Valour in the Presence of the Enemy says immediately after that MP Blake Richards (Conservative) will rise to request unanimous consent of Members present.

The petition calls on the government to begin with a review of the case of Nipissing Township’s Private Jess Larochelle, whose actions in Afghanistan in 2006 have been cited by senior commanders and witnesses as meeting the standard of Canada’s highest military honour.
Larochelle passed away in 2023.
The governments of Ontario and Saskatchewan support the creation of an independent review board.
