Nipissing University StoryWalk celebrates Indigenous Heroes
A refreshed StoryWalk is now available on the Nipissing University campus trails.
‘Go Show the World: A Celebration of Indigenous Heroes’ by Manitoba Premier and author Wab Kinew has been installed, introducing readers to inspiring Indigenous role models and celebrating their achievements through an engaging outdoor reading experience.
The university says the StoryWalk is refreshed each year with a new story to keep the experience engaging for returning readers.
“It creates an engaging on-campus activity that brings together students, families, and community members around a shared literacy experience,” shared Dr. Kristen Ferguson, Interim Associate Dean of Education at Nipissing University and Dr. Elizabeth Thorn Chair in Literacy. “The StoryWalk also serves as a valuable model for education students, demonstrating effective literacy practices that can be used in their future teaching.”
Beginning at the entrance of the Evergreen Stream Trail, the university says readers will find the first sign and follow the numbered stations along the trail, enjoying the story as they walk.
