North Bay Hydro responding to several outages following last night’s storm

By Brad Aubin

North Bay Hydro says crews continue to respond to widespread outages following last night’s storm.

The utility says significant damage was reported in several areas of the local electricity distribution system.

Around 1:00 a.m. this morning, North Bay Hydro shared work was being done “systematically and safely, with priority given to repairs that will restore power to the greatest number of customers as quickly as conditions allow”.

They add restoration efforts will continue today and in some areas possibly into tomorrow (July 2).

As of earlier this morning, areas currently expected to remain without power today and possibly overnight into July 2 include:

• Four Mile Lake Road
• Widdifield Station Road
• Peninsula Road
• Feronia Road
• Dayls Road
• West Peninsula Road
• Viceroy Road
• Regal Road
• Hughes Road
• Shorewood Road

Officials say the goal is to restore power to these areas by 8:00 p.m on July 1, though timelines may change as work progresses.

You’re also being asked to stay clear of downed wires, damaged equipment and trees in contact with power lines, and to always assume any downed or damaged line is energized and dangerous.

The utility is encouraging customers to monitor North Bay Hydro’s X account, @NBHydro, and the outage map on the North Bay Hydro website for the latest updates. Outages can be reported online at northbayhydro.com/outages safety/outages/#report-outage or by calling the 24-hour outage line at 705-474-8100.
