Operation Safe Space underway
The North Bay Police Service has launched a targeted enforcement initiative focused on public drug use, drug trafficking, and related crime in the downtown core.
Operation Safe Space started in May.
Officials say officers with the Street Crime Unit are making arrests and laying charges to help improve community safety and reduce the impact of public drug activity on residents, businesses and visitors.

Police add they increased foot and bike patrols in areas experiencing higher levels of social disorder and opened a downtown police storefront in June last year to improve police visibility, accessibility and community engagement.
They say feedback has been positive, with many reporting improved safety and a stronger police presence.
