Potential twin-pad arena and hotel being planned by Nipissing First Nation
Nipissing First Nation (NFN) is gathering community feedback as they work toward developing a potential twin-pad arena and hotel near Yellek.
“This is an important opportunity to guide a proposed project that could support youth development, community wellness, cultural expression, and economic growth for generations to come,” states a release.
Two in‑person visioning sessions are being held on Wednesday, June 3.
– Duchesnay Hall at 2:30 – 4:30 p.m.
– Garden Village Gym 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.

Officials are looking to find out:
– What makes a great arena for NFN
– How the facility can reflect our culture, identity, and values
– What additional uses, beyond hockey, should be included
– How the arena and hotel could support jobs, tourism, and community programming
– What concerns or considerations should guide planning
They say each session will include a short 15–20 minute presentation outlining the project objectives, scope, and how community input will shape the feasibility study.
An online community survey will also be open for three weeks this month, local vendors will also be surveyed and targeted interviews of NFN leadership, youth and sports program representatives will also take place.
All NFN members, on and off‑reserve, are invited to participate in the engagement sessions or complete the online survey.
