‘Purr’fect ending for cats in a cruiser
The North Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police reports a mother cat and six of her kittens are safe after seeking shelter in a vehicle component underneath an OPP vehicle.
Police say a member from the OPP Forensic Identification Services (FIS) Unit in North Bay discovered the cats on July 28.
It’s believed the kittens were about five days old at the time.
Over two days, they were safely removed from the vehicle with assistance from two Pet Save representatives, the Humane Society’s Liam and Janet, and a PAWS (Animal Welfare Services) representative.
They were then taken to the Ontario SPCA, where they’re receiving care.
“All seven animals are reported to be in good health and are expected to be available for adoption in the coming months,” states a release.
The OPP is thanking Pet Save, PAWS, and the Ontario SPCA for their dedication to animal welfare and for their continued work caring for animals in need throughout our communities.
