Support for Apprenticeship Training in Nipissing
Grant funding for upgrades to training facilities and equipment to support in-demand jobs in the skilled trades
Vic Fedeli, MPP for Nipissing announced that the Ontario government is investing $385,399 to expand apprenticeship training for electrical apprenticeship students at Canadore College, which will equip more people in Nipissing with the tools and resources they need to land good paying, in-demand careers in the skilled trades. This funding is part of the government’s annual investment for the Apprenticeship Capital Grant program to improve and modernize equipment and training facilities that support hands-on learning for students and apprentices.

“Ontario’s skilled trades are vital to our economy and offer meaningful and well-paying careers,” said MPP Vic Fedeli. “As part of our government’s ongoing work to modernize and expand apprenticeship training, this investment will ensure electrical apprentices studying at Canadore College can learn on the same industry standard tools and technologies being used on job sites today.”
“Canadore College is pleased to receive this funding from the Government of Ontario. We remain committed to continually enhancing our training equipment and facilities with the latest technology to ensure apprentices gain hands-on experience with the tools and systems they will encounter in the workplace. This investment will enable us to provide leading-edge learning opportunities, particularly for our electrical apprenticeship students, by equipping them with modern tools and expanding training in renewable energy. These upgrades ensure our programs align with evolving industry standards and support the growing demand within the green energy sector.” - Dr. Sandra Efu, President and CEO of Canadore College.

The Apprenticeship Capital Grant program is investing in institutions approved by the Ontario government to deliver apprenticeship training across the province in 2025-2026. This support will strengthen hands‑on training and give more people access to equipment that reflect current employer needs. The upgraded facilities will help prepare people for careers and help training providers keep pace with evolving technologies and industry demands.
Ontario continues to take action to protect workers, businesses, and communities by investing in skills training that responds to labour market needs. This investment will continue to develop our world class workforce, connect employers to skilled workers, support economic growth, and build a stronger, more competitive, and resilient Ontario.
