Voodoos forward heading to Europe
Powassan Voodoos forward Raphael Landry has committed to play for the Brno Lions of the European Union College Hockey League for the 2026-27 season, the Voodoos announced on Friday.
The 20-year-old Montreal, Quebec product netted four goals and added 10 assists for 14 points in 41 regular-season games as a rookie with the Voodoos in 2025-26.
"It was a great experience playing in northern Ontario, a really great community, and I had some great times with the team," said Landry.
"I want to thank the organization and the fans."
Chris Dawson, Voodoos general manager, says the team is happy for Landry to pursue hockey and his education overseas.
"Raphael is going to play hockey and get an education, which is something we encourage for our players to do. Raph is not only a good hockey player but a fine person, so we certainly wish him the best in BRNO this fall," said Dawson.
The BRNO Lions are a Division 1 ice hockey team in the European Union College Hockey League (EUCHL). Based in Czechia, the team partners with the Brno University of Technology for academics and plays its home games at the Sports Centre in Lužánky, Czechia.
He joins former Voodoos teammate Bruce Grey, who has committed to play for the Prague Guardians, also of the EUCHL, in May of 2026.
Other Voodoos who have moved on to play hockey and get an education are graduating defencemen Marcus Krats and Ben Gisonni, who are both playing NCAA Division III hockey in the fall at Concordia University-Wisconsin and Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts, respectively.
