The Powassan Voodoos have signed another key player from the Great North U18 AAA champion North Bay U18 AAA Trappers.

The Voodoos are adding forward Scott Szczygiel (pronounced SEA-GULL), the club announced on Thursday.

The 2008 birth year forward was the Trappers' captain and netted 26 goals and 34 assists for 60 points in 35 games last year.

"It was great growing up watching the Voodoos all my life, and having an opportunity to play with them is great," said Szczygiel, who was a former Voodoos flag bearer with the team as a youngster.

Chris Dawson, Voodoos GM likes the growth in Szczygiel’s game playing under former Voodoos assistant coach Josh Dale with the U18 Trappers.

“Scott have been a playoff performer the past two seasons,” noted Dawson.

“He brings leadership qualities and a great work ethic. He will fit in nicely with our group and we are looking forward to watching him develop and grow his game with the Voodoos.”

Szczygiel joins U18 Trappers Carson Ruddy and Cedar Montreuil who have already signed with the Voodoos this off-season.

He will join his new teammates and prospects on July 4 and 5 for the Voodoos Prospects Camp at Pete Palangio arena in North Bay.
