Voyageur 200 back for a fourth year
We’re less than a month away from the fourth annual Voyageur 200 gravel cycling event.
Along with showcasing the area’s backroads, trails and communities, the Aug. 14-16 series of races will raise funds for the North Bay Regional Health Centre (NBRHC) Foundation in support of cardiac and stroke care, including Aphasia awareness.
Officials say the Voyageur 200, founded by stroke survivor Jeff Miller, has grown into one of Northern Ontario’s premier gravel cycling events.
“The Voyageur 200 isn’t supposed to be easy – that’s what makes crossing the finish line so rewarding. Every kilometre and every challenge reminds us what we’re capable of,” says Miller. “Together, we’re showcasing an incredible region while giving back to the hospital that helped me through one of the toughest challenges of my life.”
Participants can choose from 30 km, 65 km, 100 km or the signature 200 km route, with courses winding through East Ferris, Bonfield, Mattawa, North Bay, Callander and surrounding communities.
“Every rider, volunteer, sponsor and donor who takes part in The Voyageur 200 helps strengthen cardiac and stroke care close to home,” says Tammy Morison, President & CEO, NBRHC Foundation. “Community events like this play an essential role in helping our hospital invest in the medical equipment healthcare teams rely on to care for patients. We are deeply grateful to everyone who brings their time, energy and generosity to this remarkable ride.”
