WFCU secures naming rights of North Bay’s new sports complex

WFCU has been selected as the successful bidder for the naming rights of North Bay’s new community centre.
The City of North Bay says the proposed agreement, along with a separate sponsorship agreement with Redpath Mining Inc. for one of the facility’s two ice pads will be presented to council for consideration next week.
Subject to approval, it’ll be known as WFCU Place when it opens on Aug. 21.
“Since 1940, WFCU has invested in the communities we serve, one relationship at a time, one town at a time. Our credit union is only as strong as our communities, and WFCU Place is what that belief looks like in practice. WFCU Place will be where kids play their first game, where families spend their Saturdays, and where North Bay comes together. We are proud to be part of those moments,” said Eddie Francis, WFCU President & CEO. “This is the beginning of our commitment to North Bay, not the extent of it, and we look forward to continuing to invest here and give back the way we have everywhere we have called home. We thank Mayor Chirico and Council for their vision in building this facility, and we look forward to Aug. 21.”
Also subject to Council approval, one of the facility’s two regulation-sized ice pads will be named Redpath under a proposed five-year agreement with Redpath Mining Inc.
“Redpath is proud to support a facility that will provide opportunities for residents of all ages to participate in recreation, sport and community activities,” said George Flumerfelt, Redpath Mining Inc.’s CEO. “We are excited to be part of a project that will become a gathering place for North Bay for years to come.”
The City says it expects additional sponsorship opportunities to be announced in the future.
“We appreciate the confidence and support from local businesses that have chosen to be part of this facility,” said Mayor Chirico. “Their support is a great example of corporate citizenship and the important role businesses play in our community.”
