Voodoos defender to play college hockey in Czechia

Powassan Voodoos graduating defenceman Bruce Grey has committed to play for the Prague Guardians of the European Union College Hockey League, the Voodoos announced on Friday. 

Grey, acquired before the NOJHL January 10trade deadline from the Espanola Paper Kings, netted 8 goals and added 16 assists for 24 games split between the Voodoos, Espanola Paper Kings and the Iroquois Falls Storm in 2025-26.  

"I was thrilled to finish my junior 'A' career with the Powassan Voodoos, especially getting a taste of playoff hockey," said Grey.

"The program is fantastic, and the people and community are wonderful. My next experience will be studying business while playing college hockey in Prague. This opportunity is a direct result of my NOJHL experience," added the West Vancouver, B.C. product who played more than 150 NOJHL games in his junior career. 

"This unique experience doesn’t come around often, and I’m incredibly excited for this life-changing opportunity," added Grey, who will be studying business.  

Peter Goulet, Voodoos head coach, is thrilled to see another player move on. 

"Bruce Grey was great for us down the stretch and was a great teammate," noted Peter Goulet, Voodoos head coach.  

"We wish Bruce nothing but the best in his new adventures. This will mark the first time a player has gone from the Powassan Voodoos to play in Czechia."

Grey becomes the third member of the Voodoos to move on to college hockey. 

Marcus Krats will be playing NCAA D III at Concordia University Wisconsin, this fall, while defenceman Ben Gisonni is going to NCAA D III Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts in the fall.
