WestJet now offering flights from North Bay to Calgary

By Steph Larouche

North Bay Jack Garland Airport welcomed WestJet’s inaugural non-stop flight to Calgary on June 19, officially launching the new seasonal service between the two cities.

Airport officials say the route is expected to boost tourism, business travel, and economic opportunities across the region, while giving local residents a more convenient option for travel without having to drive to larger airports.

“We are proud to welcome WestJet and celebrate the launch of this new service from YYB,” said Bryan Avery, Airport Manager, North Bay Jack Garland Airport Corporation. “With direct service to Calgary, North Bay is now better connected to Western Canada, key industry markets, and WestJet’s broader network, while also creating new opportunities to welcome visitors to our community.”

The flight operates twice a week aboard a Boeing 737, with a travel time of approximately four hours between North Bay and Calgary.

The new connection also gives travellers access to WestJet’s larger network, including destinations across Canada, the U.S., and beyond.

Avery said community support will be critical to ensuring the long-term success of the service.

“Air service succeeds when communities use it,” he said. “Every passenger who chooses to fly from North Bay helps demonstrate demand, strengthen local connectivity, and support the future of air service for our community.”
